This buck was shot in the gut and tracked 1.1 miles. The hunter lost the blood trail after a short distance, because the guts do a good job sometimes of plugging up the exit hole when hit far back. The hunter finally put the final shot on this deer after my dog found the buck still alive in a creek behind some homes. I had track this buck through many front, back yards and multiple wood lots. There was no blood on the trail other than a few drops of blood every 100 plus yards or so and would have been lost for sure without a good tracking dog!!!
